Main strategies

Strategy I: 
Research and development of a fundamental system for HTA

Strategy II:
Capacity strengthening for HTA at both individual and organizational levels as well as for the Thai HTA Health systems

Strategy III:
Assess health technologies and policies in regard to public priority

Strategy IV:
Research dissemination to policy makers, medical practitioners, and the general public

Strategy V:
Development of organizational management and encouragement of connections between academics and involved parties at both national and international Health Technology Assessment organizations

Activities related to the above five strategies

StrategyActivities

Strategy I: 
Research and development of a fundamental system for HTA 

1.1  To enhance HTA Guidelines 
1.2  To enrich the Thai HTA database 
1.3  To develop tools and utility/quality of life measures, namely the Thai EQ-5D-5L for  cost utility analyses 
1.4  To conduct a household survey on willingness to pay per QALY, and to examine the Thai ceiling threshold 

Strategy II: 
Capacity strengthening for HTA at individual and organizational levels as well as for the Thai HTA systems
2.1 To provide HTA training sessions for physicians, pharmacists, public health administrators, and those who are interested in HTA
2.2 To provide HITAP staff with both on-the-job and formal training in Thailand and abroad 
Strategy III:
Assess health technologies and policies in regard to public priority
3.1 To prioritize and select research topics related to health intervention and technology assessment with regard to public concern
3.2 To develop standardized research procedures to encourage organizational transparency and accountability 
Strategy IV: 
Research dissemination to policy makers, medical practitioners, and the general public
4.1 To encourage stakeholders’ participation in prioritizing  and selecting research topics 
4.2 To allow policy makers and stakeholders to be involved in research topic selection, and reviewing research results for policy recommendations
4.3 To present research results to particular stakeholders through appropriate communication channels, for example, translating research knowledge into policy decisions via policy formulations
4.4 To keep structures and content of organizations’ websites updated
Strategy V:
Development of organizational management and encouragement of connections between academics and involved parties at both national and international HTA organizations 
5.1 To develop systems of good governance 
5.2 To evaluate organizations’ working procedures together with the effects of HTA research on the society as a whole
5.3 To develop a systematic mechanism for topic prioritization and selection of HTA in Thailand
5.4 To initiate and develop a network for HTA organizations in Thailand
5.5 To build international collaborations
