What can we learn from India’s COVID-19 Response? Lessons for Thailand and the World

The Health Intervention and Technology Assessment Program (HITAP) would like to invite you to join and learn about the COVID-19 response in India and identify lessons for policymaking in Thailand.
Background:
India, the second most populous country in the world, launched what would be the largest COVID-19 vaccination programme in January 2021. In April-May of this year, the country experienced another wave of infections, driven by the Delta variant, that raised daily cases to over 400,000 per day, to less than 25,000 per day at the start of October 2021. India had imposed restrictions on domestic and international travel with variations across the country this year, owing to the federal structure of the country. It has a large domestic manufacturing capacity for vaccines and recently, its regulatory authority approved the first DNA vaccine against COVID-19. India is part of the “Quad”, along with the United States, Japan and Australia, which plans to produce and supply COVID-19 vaccines across Asia.
