Health Intervention and Technology Assessment Program (HITAP) held the side meeting on the topic of “Out-of-pocket expenditure and the Quest for Universal Health Coverage: Lessons learned from implementing innovative health financing schemes in the South-East Asia Region” at “Prince Mahidol Award Conference (PMAC) 2018” The meeting showcased experiences from four countries in the Southeast Asia region, namely India, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Thailand.
The representatives from each country shared experience and lessons learned from rolling out health financing schemes to alleviate the impact of Out-of-pocket expenditure (OOPE) along with designing, implementing and evaluating innovative health financing schemes to provide financial protection to their populations.
The honored expert speakers included Dr. Alaka Singh – WHO Myanmar, Dr. Thiri Win – Ministry of Health and Sports, Myanmar, Dr.Shankar Prinja – Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, India, Mrs. Vuong Lan Mai – Vietnam Social Security (VSS), Vietnam, Dr. Thant Sin Htoo – Ministry of Health and Sports (MoHS), Myanmar, Prof. Supasit Pannarunothai – Centre for Health Equity Monitoring Foundation, Thailand and MS. Saudaminu Dabak – HITAP, Thailand at Lotus 11, 22nd Floor, Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre at Central World.
