Biography

Panupong Chaowanasawat is an Associate at the Health Intervention and Technology Assessment Program (HITAP). He holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Health (Honors) with a minor in Global Health and Social Medicine from Wayne State University, USA. His academic and professional background reflects a strong commitment to public health research and global health equity. He has contributed to projects focused on HPV vaccine awareness among oropharyngeal cancer patients and participated in a materiality assessment initiative in collaboration with the University of Windsor.

At HITAP, Panupong serves as the secretariat of the Lancet Commission on Strengthening the Use of Epidemiological Modelling of Emerging and Pandemic Infectious Diseases, where he supports coordination, stakeholder engagement, and evidence translation. In parallel, he works with international partners to build capacity in Health Technology Assessment (HTA) and promote evidence-informed decision-making across countries. Domestically, he contributes to health system strengthening as part of the the Universal Coverage Benefits Package (UCBP) team, supporting research that informs benefit design and resource allocation. His professional interests focus on the integration of global health perspectives into national policies, improving access to essential health services, and promoting the effective use of research and modelling in health system development.
