Biography
Dr. Nishanta Sharma is a quantitative researcher at HITAP Thailand, currently leading a project that assesses the environmental and economic impacts of low-value healthcare services using input-output analysis, as well as exploring the nexus between climate and epidemiology. He holds a PhD in Development and Sustainability from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), where he also trained master’s and PhD students in quantitative research. His professional focus includes climate-compatible health infrastructure, carbon footprint analysis in the health sector, and the integration of environmental policy into health systems. Dr. Sharma has contributed to regional policy development through his work with UN ESCAP, particularly in the areas of the care economy and social policy. He has authored work on sustainable futures and holds certifications in ESG, carbon, and green skills—positioning him at the intersection of environmental economics and healthcare sustainability.
