Situational Analysis of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Thailand’s Health System
About Project
Integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the health system has the potential to enhance efficiency, accessibility, and overall quality of medical services worldwide. In response to global advancements, Thailand proactively developed the National AI Strategy and Action Plan 2022–2027, which emphasises AI adoption in health as a national priority. At this time, there remain many moving pieces in the current state and role of AI in the health sector in Thailand. To this end, this study seeks to understand the current landscape of AI for health in Thailand. The study employs qualitative methods, using a targeted document review and key informant interviews (KIIs) to explore the current use of AI-driven technologies in Thailand’s health system, including their applications, key stakeholders involved in the adoption process and their experiences. Additionally, lessons will be drawn from international experts to inform policy practices in Thailand. The findings aim to offer actionable recommendations that address existing gaps, challenges, and opportunities, for policymakers to promote the effective integration of AI for health in Thailand.
